Amusement park rail cars use BT20C modules for obstacle avoidance.

A Chinese amusement equipment factory consulted about obstacle and collision avoidance requirements during rail car operation. Surertech recommended the BT20C laser module for them, which is embedded in the front of the rail trolley as shown in the figure to detect and avoid obstacles within 15–50 meters ahead of the track.
The BT20C measures the distance to obstacles ahead, with a minimum detection distance of 300 mm.It is powered by a DC 24V switching power supply inside the equipment cabinet.The cabinet’s switching power supply also connects to proximity switches, PLC, and other devices.The module outputs a 4–20 mA analog signal to the S7-200 SMART analog input module.The device operates immediately upon power-on.When measurement is abnormal, all outputs are disabled, while the display shows normal ranging.
